The SOE Global Education awards recognize outstanding performance of schools within an academic year in a range of categories. The award is open to any school – new or old; public or private.
The aim of the awards is to recognize excellence and reward the professionalism and zeal of those making an outstanding contribution to primary and secondary schools in the maintained and independent sectors. An experienced panel of judges look for outstanding examples of best practice in a given academic year.
Since sports is a fundamental tool to promote a competitive, yet cheerful learning experience, SOE Global Education Awards have a dedicated category for Sports Facilities.
Developing Life Skills Through Sports

Actively playing a sport isn’t just good for children’s bodies; it also helps in keeping their minds stimulated. Studies have shown that sport has psychological benefits for children and adolescents and teaches them important life skills.
Several research studies have proved that taking part in a sport can help in the development of your child’s self-esteem and confidence. Simple gestures such as a pat on the back, a high-five from a teammate, or a handshake, when a match is over, helps build confidence.
Sports also helps kids develop soft skills. Joining a sports team could give children a sense of belonging and gives them an opportunity to make friends. With more friendship circles it would help improve their communication skills, which will help them in their future careers and relationships.

At Vidya Bharati, our students experience happiness, peace and enjoy an energetic and enthusiastic lifestyle through a variety of physical fitness programs. The multipurpose and enormous school playground serves as a pitch for football, hockey, handball and cricket. Adjoining the field, are the basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts. This Olympic size field is also a hub for our beyond curriculum activities such as exhibitions, carnivals, sports events, annual day and so on.
It’s a testament to our high standards of sporting infrastructure, that one of our students has gone on to represent India for its Under-19 cricket team.

Thanks to the emphasis on infrastructure aided preparation, the past couple of years have been a roaring success for our football and Taekwondo teams. Our Taekwondo team has won us several trophies at the state and national level championships with its display of coordination and discipline.
Our Under-15 Hockey Team has also won several inter-school hockey tournaments. They recently added another feather to their cap by attaining the 1st position in the 36th S.S. Mota Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament.
So, it was apparent to the judges that Vidya Bharati deserves the award for consistently offering world-class facilities to its students, helping them stay competitive and tournament ready.
Our management staff, and sports teachers have taken great efforts in making sure that our sports facilities reflect our student-centered attitude towards learning.
And we vow to continue doing so.
